Since putting a solid roof (Colourbond Steel) on the deck, where previously it had only been Shadecloth (nylon mesh), this end of the deck is becoming more and more like a nursery. Shelves, boxes and an electric propagating tray all bear the results of gardening activities when it's raining. Oh, the joy of standing under a metal roof, listening to the rain and messing about with plants and potting mixes.
okay ~ seriously you guys must be the most organised & meticulous gardeners I know! What a wonderful site these photo's are ~ I'm not joking when I say that I feel so inspired by it all. I'd be happy to pay you for advice! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd as for the sound of rain on a metal roof, aahh, love it.
gosh you two have it all down to a science. We are trying to get everything ready so we can have a nice big veggie garden next spring and I try to work everyday on my flowers and plants but its nothing compared to yours!
ReplyDeleteDon't be disheartened, ladies. Some of those plants in pots and boxes will live their entire life and then DIE in there because I haven't found anywhere to plant them, or there are too many. I mean, just where would I plant 135 Canadian Maples? That's how many Richard has growing from last year's seed, and he hasn't even collected any this year. I must say that if we buy plants now, I do try and get them planted out first as I'm not so concerned if some of the things we have propogated don't make it but it's a waste of money if the bought ones die.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful nursery you have there! I have a feeling that come the sowing season (March onwards for us) the back bedroom will be a hive of activity - i just hope no one wants to stay ;-)
ReplyDeletehey Alice, just letting you know that I got your postcard in the mail yesterday - thank you very much! I've never been to Canberra, only Brisbane but I'd love to go back to Australia sometime.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to work with your plants! I can tell you and your husband really love gardening.
ReplyDeletedo you ever donate them to fetes? Or even have a market stall somewhere to sell them? Maybe that way you can still propogate and not have too many. I don't have the patience to do propogating
ReplyDeleteWow I am imprssed, you seem to have quite a nursery going on here! Lovely plants,I don't do too well with container gardening,I just seem to kill them off!!
ReplyDeleteWow!!!Are you guys organized or what? Every New Years I make a resolution to be more organized. A quality I admire but never obtain.
ReplyDeleteMs Robyn - yes, I have donated 100s of plants to school and Church fetes over the years. I also give them away to friends and family. ShellyC has organised another Craft Market for us, so as well as Aprons and Dolls Clothes, I will give the plants a go. I don't want to make a fortune; I'm more interested in encouraging people to become gardeners.
