The idle comments of a passionate Australian gardener, whose 'Growing Delight' is sharing the everyday bits'n'pieces with other lovers of gardening, and through photography, the beauty of the Australian landscape.
Love the photos - looks like you all had a wonderful Christmas with the children especially enjoying the day. Your lounge room floor looked liked mine...lol. Ashley just walked in and I was so pleased that I recognised some of the people in the photos from others you had posted. He says you looked like you had a fantastic day too.
Alice your girls are lovely! I am really 'warming up' to the idea of a hot christmas. Mind if we join you next year? Sitting on that deck sipping beer appeals to me....
Thank you all for your lovely comments. The photos were taken very quickly so the focussing isn't the best - you know how it is, you try and get a shot before someone walks in front of the camera or disappears altogether. I should have got Russ to come and sit with the girls, but I'm sure they'd have done a disappearing act too if they knew I was going to take their photo.
Sandy, you would be very welcome out here to share our hot Christmas. The day was pretty well perfect here - 24 degrees F, a bit windier than we wanted but it was sheltered on the deck. Certainly no snow to shovel or anything like that.
Alice, your Christmas lunch spread looks just like ours did! Isn't it good to eat cold food in hot weather?
We had quite a hot day, but thankfully we have air conditioning in our rumpus room, so we set up a fold-a-table in there (heavily disguised under tablecloth etc!).
Thanks for your comment. Yes it sure is lovely to have husbands who love us just as we are. I'm sure it is no effort for your husband..you sound like a smart, straight-talking yet also very kind-hearted woman.
Glad you had a happy Christmas. I especially love the photo of your girls relaxing.
Just now getting around to checking the blogs, and it just doesn't seem possible that your sitting in the heat with air on, while we're sitting in the cold with the heat on......but we all seem to survive don't we..... Your dinner looks fabulous and so do your girls....barefoot...lol...but even here in the cold we all run around barefoot....but just not outside.....HAPPY NEW YEARS to you all........
What a sight for sore eyes your Christmas pictures are! I love that everyone is barefoot, there is a picnic supper of salads and fruits on the table, and people are wearing shorts. We have just spent two weeks driving through snow and sleet to visit our families. So now I'm ready for some of your weather! Happy New Year, Alice! May your garden grow beautifully this year! (p.s. I see you like to read as well as garden -- that is one boatload of books on your shelves!)
Looked like a lovely occasion. The food looked especially good. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI finally figured how to do my links and your now linked.
