Anyone need a Pocket?

How about 54 of them? This is a set of hanging pockets I have just finished making for my friend's pre-school. The children will put their hats, jackets, drink bottles, etc. in them and the teachers put in notes that need to be taken home, etc. Each pocket will have a child's name on it, possibly photo as well. There are 27 mauve pockets on one side and 27 red ones on the other side. My friend did say to make them any colour I liked - I hope she meant it!

  4. This is awesome. My mom is a preschool teacher and she'd be stoked about something like that. I think the colours are great - especially that red - the children will be totally mesmerized by that colour. Yeah, you are a great helper - paid or not!

  5. Shell - I think they are a regular item here at the pre-schools. They hang them outside on a porch or veranda. The two different colours are for the two classes - morning and afternoon. If your Mum is interested I could give you the measurements, etc.

  6. What a terrific idea Alice. I’m also thinking how great a smaller version would work for a child’s bedroom too.
Hmmm! can’t help noticing how inviting your deck looks surrounded with colourful flower planters. Just love sharing your summer like this. Marion

I remember these from when thekids were at preschool. They used them to put notes etc in for the parents. One colour for the morning group then turn it around for the afternoon group! Well done Alice, they look great.

  8. What a lucky teacher. It is certainly hard to organize all those youngens. If it is functional it will be beautiful.

  9. This would be great at our school too Alice. The mystery has been cleared up for me about the two different sides. I was wondering! The kinders go all day at our school but they're half day at some schools over here.
We have cubbies but they're not nearly as pretty as this. Clever girl! And you ARE a great helper.

  10. Looks very snazzy!

I'm thinking Reflection Through the Seasons has a good idea about using a smaller version for a child's room - maybe it would help reduce the number of toys on the floor! (whether in boxes or not)

  12. What a clever idea!

This would work well in the classroom for my big kids, too, to store calculators.
