In a comment on Marion's blog I said that I would try and post some photos of Floriade in Canberra, which is held from mid-September to mid-October. (I apologise for the quality but these are photos of photos.)
One of the many beds of annuals.
Valerie F. - you are an absolute genius. The posting of the photos worked like a charm. Thank you.
Wow, Alice, this is fantastic! It reminds me of photos my folks took while in Holland in the 50s. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are glorious. I will put the Floriade on my list of things I'd like to visit!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning flowers! You must love Floriade.
ReplyDeletehow beautiful! i adore flowers..
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteAlice, I've never seen anything so glorious! All those beautiful colors!! How do they water all those flowers?
ReplyDeleteIt's funny thinking of tulips and other Spring bulbs blooming in Sept. and Oct. Our trees are turning the beautiful colors of fall at that time.
Wow! That is spectacular! It sure shows up the Royal Hobart Botanical Gardens in the blooming bulbs catagory.
ReplyDeleteAbe/Happy - you should be able to buy Snowdrop or Snowflake bulbs fairly soon from any nursery or store that sells plants and garden supplies. You can buy them in packets same as daffodils, ranunculus, freesias, etc. Just leave them in the ground and they will multiply in no time.
ReplyDeleteAbe/Happy, I wish I could send you some of mine..the little devils take right over and I'm always looking for people to give them to!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE seeing them open their sweet white flowers so early though.
Tulips were always my moms favorite. When I was young, she would buy bulbs from a friend of my dads, who grew and sold very special ones...... and when my hubby was alive my daughter went to Holland, and she sent us 100 bulbs, and some are still growing in my back yard... great pictures Alice........
ReplyDeleteAlice...
ReplyDeleteWhat fab pictures of the Floriade, they remind me so much of the floral displays I enjoyed in Holland. The perfume was exquisite. Thanks for searching them out. Marion
