Here are a few more of the photos we took on our stroll during the week. We've now had four frosts this week so the autumn colour will be even more enhanced in the coming weeks.

Agapanthus under the Manchurian Pears
Towering Poplars

Scarlet Oaks
Less advanced than those above but stunning in its contrasts.

What a wonderful pictures, Alice. Beautiful trees, colors, views and places!
ReplyDeleteTrees, glorious trees! Are you going to post all 186 photos eventually, Alice? Just joking!
ReplyDeleteIt's very wintery down here in Melbourne today. Apart from going out to an aerobics class this morning, I haven't been out. Really should be going up to the Dandenongs to see the autumn colors up there. Maybe Wednesday. There's a wonderful park, Pirianda Gardens, up there that is on a gigantic hillside, and it's devoted to specimen trees, with lots of space between each one to enjoy them fully. You can see it from across a valley. Every year we keep meaning to go back for another visit.
lovely colours, we've only just started a couple of cold nights here in Sydney, so my Japanese maple is dropping leaves with hardly any colour in them at all, disappointing, it's usually quite red.
ReplyDelete4 frosts already! I don't think we have had any, so far. I must get my pumpkins in before they are hit by the frost. Gorgeous, gorgeous photos, Alice! Oh and its good to read that your sister in law is on the mend!
ReplyDeleteIt's the one thing we miss in the subtropics the lovely autumn leaves, and against the blue sky they look glorious, you can almost breathe the fresh air. good photos alice.
ReplyDeleteWow, Alice, what a lot of colorful great photos!
ReplyDeleteSigrun
Those are wonderful photos, thank you for sharing. Here in the midwest (USA) our trees have just gotten their new leaves on them. Seems like it happens in just a few days :)
ReplyDeleteThose Scarlet Oaks...wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all these beautiful shots, Alice. Have a great Monday!
Beautiful fall color. Were theose the trees planted as part of the landscaping grants to homeowners? I am still partial to a maple. Fall can be breath taking.Lovely!
ReplyDeleteWendy - these trees are all in public parks except for the Golden Ashes. I'm not sure what or if there is a free allocation of trees and shrubs anymore. I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteHello Alice.... At last! the problem I was having staying on your blog long enough to write a comment seems to have resolved itself somehow! Well, I hope so. I left a comment recently, so here I am again having another go.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Autumn seems to have come very suddenly to you. It seems no time at all since you were writing about how hot it was. The colour in the trees is spectacular, love the pinks and greens.
Hope you’re feeling well. I haven’t forgotten that I have mail to answer to you. I’ve been searching out an old photograph that you may be interested in. Its not a very good quality, its deteriorated over the years, but I’ve just bought a scanner, so when I’ve worked out how it operates. I’ll scan it and send it to you.
That’s really good news about Edna. Good wishes for her speedy recovery, as you say ‘stronger every day’ may that continue. I’ll be in touch.
Lots of Love - Marion
Wow, 4 frosts already. I am sure you are glad for the cooler weather. This is neat, trading seasons with you. Remember last fall you were looking at our colorful leaves and we were looking at your spring flowers?
ReplyDeleteGlorious pictures Alice!! You weren't kidding when you said the trees are magnificent in autumn. Ross and I both agreed that we couldn't remember seeing the trees turn like that in our area when we lived over there. Is it because those trees aren't native to the country? I seem to remember you saying that.
ReplyDeleteYou've outdone yourself with these photos. Really beautiful. Thank you for sharing your lovely autumn with us!
I love fall colors! Hard to believe you have had four frosts already! Things are finally warming up here!
ReplyDeleteKerri - these trees are not 'native' to Australia, although the Claret Ash was bred by an Australian. The colours are more intense here than they are in the coastal cities, or even in the Dandenongs in Victoria, because we are about 2000 feet above sea level with much colder nights. If you ever come to Canberra you will feel the chill in the air that is generally lacking in areas closer to sea level. The frosts serve to intensify the colour in the leaves.
ReplyDeleteYour fall colors are simple beautiful and your picture taking skills are great. Thanks for sharing these lovely pictures. I haven't seen a colorful autumn in ages.
ReplyDeleteAlice, I am amazed at how beautiful your part of the world is!
ReplyDeleteOh Alice I'm really surprised to read that you have had frost, I really thought that it would never freeze in Australia. Your autumn colours are stunningly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI was delighted that you visited my blog. I have family in Melbourne and Phillip Island, and still dream of being able to visit them. How lovely to see autumn colours as we gear up for the Arizona summer (90 degrees on this "cool" spring day). It's difficult to imagine frosts - didn't know that Canberra would get that cold.
