The Dawn of a New Day

Some days we're blessed with scenes like these at both ends of the day. These shots were taken yesterday morning from the back deck. The red sky in the morning gave us hope of rain - and we got it, a whole 1.25mm (5 points). About all it did was wet the morning paper. Still, we enjoyed the sunrise.

  5. Pea - no-one else could paint a masterpiece like we see in the sunsets and sunrises, could they?

Shell - I'm up that early because Richard told me to get out of bed and get my camera. I'd actually been lying in bed watching the red/gold cloud and thinking that perhaps I should get up as there could be something worth photographing.

Sigrun - we sometimes have breakfast on the deck, but definitely not in the winter.

  7. Beautiful photos, as always.
Hope you are staying warm, Alice. From the weather reports I see, Canberra is pretty darn cold at the moment. Take care, Meow

  9. How very beautiful! I especially love the contrast of the bright colors in the first and the pastel shades in the last.
So glad you got some rain, if only a smidgen. Oh boy, do we have some to spare! Where's the balance here?
We had 2 more thunderstorms this afternoon. More showers predicted for tomorrow, but at least the waters have receded and things are getting back to normal.

  10. Fire in the sky! Stunning. Glad you at least felt a drip or two of rain Alice- pity it was not more. Hard to pick what one l like the best here- perhaps the third one down, l like the contrast of the tree shape against the wonderful hot colours. Fantastic as always.
    Take Care,

I love to come and see your wonderful sunrises and sunsets. Where I live I am surrounded by hills and trees and electric poles. I would have to sit on my roof to enjoy a good sunrise here. Thanks:)
