What a way to spend a weekend ...... meeting a dear blogger friend on Thursday afternoon, lunching with my brother and sister-in-law yesterday, and today, meeting several schoolfriends whom I hadn't seen for nigh on 50 years.
It was such a pleasure to meet with Val on Thursday afternoon and to have a personally conducted tour of part of the magnificent State Library of Victoria. Alas, there wasn't time to see nearly as much as we wanted to. Definitely a place to visit for those living in or near Melbourne, or for those visiting.
Today my sisters and I attended the Drouin High School 50th Anniversary celebrations. We were a bit ambivalent about going, but had a wonderful day. I met up with quite a few people from my years at the school in the mid 50s, several who were in my class (although none of my closest friends), some whom I had known away from school through sport, church, etc. and even a couple of students whom Richard had taught at Primary School before they moved on to DHS.
When I receive my copies of the photos taken for each decade, I'm sure I'll look at the names and realise that there were yet more people there whom I would love to have caught up with. Nevertheless, we had a thoroughly enjoyable day ..... and what a relief to see that I wasn't the only one that no longer looks like a teenager...lol.
So, dear friends, if you have the opportunity to attend a school reunion, do make the effort to go. I'm sure you'll have a great time too.

I can imagine the pleasure you and Val felt, being able to chat in person, and in such a fascinating place. I get a feeling of happy excitement just thinking of such a meeting. What a wonderful opportunity!
Then to spend time with your dear sisters, and catch up with long-ago aquaintances...what a fun time for you! I'm afraid I'll never make it one of my school reunions. Much too far away!
I hope you got to see Sara play.
Really pleased you had a good time Alice! I will be sure to attend my school reunion if it ever comes up- they don't seem to do that over here as much- sadly ;). Glad you and your blogging friend Val got to meet up-lovely.
Take care and Bests
Reunions can be scary for many people. Not so meeting a blogger buddy face to face for the first time! Felt like we were just resuming a conversation.
I am so pleased that you had a fabulous weekend. We worked around the house and cleaned up some of the clutter that has "spread" itelf into all four corners.... looks alot better now!
I hope you have a gorgeous week ahead my friend. xox
Oh wow, that must have been a fabulous weekend. A reunion, a blogger friend ... how exciting. I am very happy for you.
Take care, Meow
How lovely for you and Val to catch up like that. I am envious, of course.
Mind you, I nearly met Lee the other day, except that it wasn't me...
[I guess I'd better explain that? Lee, who lives not so very far away from me - left me a comment to say that she rushed up in the street to say hello to somebody she thought was me, it wasn't..]
As for school re-unions, wow, 50 years - it sounds like you are glad you went, thanks for the advice.
Like kerri, I'm a bit too far away to attend any reunions but I'm glad you enjoyed yours so much. I just saw the comment on the first post of my blog(been busy) Thanks from a Yank.
What a wonderful weekend you had Frances, meeting up with school friends, your blogging friend Val and family too. I’m sure your mind is spilling over with good memories of it all. Marion
