Lake Eacham, Nth Qld.

Lake Eacham was the location for our two night stay on the Atherton Tablelands. A 3klm walk around the lake provides both exercise and a glimpse of the spectacular flora in this region. Huge trees that my little camera cannot do justice to, Maidenhair Fern cascading down the banks, and fungi of all colours and shapes.

How peaceful is this?
Watching the turtles and fish.
Trees reaching heavenward.
If only it grew like this in a pot!
The path to .....
Some trees need a firm anchor in the ground.
Varied vegetation.
Aerial roots will eventually reach the ground and take hold.

  1. What a gorgeous place, and yes, it looks so peaceful. My mum always grew maiden hair fern. I love it! Yes, it would be wonderful to have it grow so well in a pot.
Nice pics of Richard and Tanya. Did they see any turtles?
What's the name of the tree with the huge roots? I should know it but.....

  4. Hello Dear Frances....
What stunning pictures, I love the one of Richard standing within the roots of that fantastic tree, looks like the tree is giving him a hug. The colours and shapes of the vegetation is just so beautiful, I’m trying to imagine what wonderful forest aromas and birdsong you enjoyed too.

I was so pleased to read the comment you left and had to smile that you were surprised I had no people in my pictures. One thing I can vouch for, British people are usually very polite and when seeing you take a picture, they will stop and allow you time to do it, hence, it looked as if Burford was completely deserted that day, no indeed it wasn’t.
