The idle comments of a passionate Australian gardener, whose 'Growing Delight' is sharing the everyday bits'n'pieces with other lovers of gardening, and through photography, the beauty of the Australian landscape.
Ah, you turn for better weather, we turn towards winter!!! I love you cloud photos, have you come across "The Cloud Spotters Guide" by Gavin Pretor-Pinney? Its got me gripped, I never knew clouds were so interesting!
At this, our beginning of summer, I'm not even going to think about winter (as Val mentioned)! Full speed ahead with the gardening now that vacation time is here. Yippee! I'm going to enjoy myself :) Wish you were here to help me weed and dig...I'd put you right to work! Your clouds and sky are superb. I'm not very good at sunset pics. I should practice more. Great photos! xoxo
Val - I haven't come across "The Cloud Spotters Guide", but I must check it out.
Have you ever logged on to http://www.cloudappreciationsociety.org Have a look at the Photo Gallery - there are hundred of phenomenol cloud photo from all over the world.
Looking at clouds sure beats looking down all the time ....lol
Oh my goodness- this post made me smile. Yesterday l was out with my camera in the garden and almost took a photo of the sky- l really thought of you and the cloud appreciation club. Next time l will indeed snap that picture and post it. l always love your sky pictures Alice- so dramatic with great silhouettes. l hope you and Richard have been keeping well and cosy- those pictures below of the garden make me shiver. Bests and hugs
Hi Alice! Are you staying warm with your new heating system? It has been very HOT here, we are having no problem staying warm!
I thought of you this morning when I posted some local flower pictures. Hope you are having a nice break from gardening and enjoying the cooler weather.
Hi Alice, at least we have that shortest day past us now, and the days can get longer (and hopefully warmer LOL). Your photos are, once more, wonderful. Take care, Meow
Yes I agree... your photos are wonderful, as always. We have had the most wonderful two days of not quite drought breaking rain... perhaps more will come and it will fill our dams a little more.
We too always rejoice when June 21st comes around, and this year we celebrated it in style, by sitting in the Overland train and gawking our way to Adelaide!
But don't you love lots of things about winter too? I love the beautiful light, as your photos show.
Superb skies Frances. I always feel a tinge of sadness on 21st June, whilst its lovely to be enjoying our longest day, its downhill afterwards. I want to embrace every moment. Like your new picture. Marion
So your days are lengthening, which means ours are shortening! Just on the day of the summer solstice here, I noticed the signs of late summer's approach: queen anne's lace popping up along roadsides, joe pye weed flower heads beginning to form. I don't know if you have those wildflowers by your roadsides or not. Looking forward to photos from your growing season in the coming months!
