My usual walk follows this path around Mt Rodgers behind our house.
Not a typical Canberra home but the view is worth it.
View south towards the Brindabella Ranges.
Belconnen Town Centre, Lake Ginninderra and Black Mountain in the distance.
Over the suburbs to the Brindabella Ranges.
Follow the path into the west.
The storm clouds roll in. If only they would deliver their promise!
Looking back towards Black Mountain.
The suburb of Flynn.
Taking the path south...
.... and north.....
And back home a little rain fell ....
and made music as it entered the tank.
How exciting to get water in your tanks so quicky! I'm pining for the sound of rain on the roof. I don't foresee any for a while though.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the sounds of badly-needed rainwater trickling into a tank is truly wondrous!
ReplyDeleteSIX eggs now? Every time I visit your blog there are more! When will this crazy egg-laying rosella momma stop?!
Alice, my youngest daughter returned from her trip with high praises for the beauty of your country, and is planning another trip there. Her sister asked, "What is his name?" And sure enough, she met a young man there, they are currently burning up the phone lines between here and there...
ReplyDeleteHi Alice,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful area you live in.
Your photographs are stunning and very atmospheric.
Sara from farmingfriends
Such beautiful pictures and I love it that you can get to a higher point like that and see such wonderful panoramas. It was so windy here yesterday, the clouds were moving faster than I've ever seen! lol I can just imagine how delighted you were that it did rain a bit:-) xox
ReplyDeleteHey Alice,
ReplyDeleteYou have done this very very well!!!! Showing the 'Clouds-walk throught the sky" I love clouds , or at least to photograph them. You have a good eye for photography :)
JoAnn greetings:)
I was thinking of you, as the rain was falling on us here close to the coast. It all came from your direction, so I am glad those clouds released some of their precious cargo in your area.
ReplyDeleteThat bird is a joy!!
Alice,
ReplyDeleteHow exciting about the maternity ward! Your birds are so very different from ours., It will be very interesting to see what the babies look like.
What a lovely walk you had! Thanks for taking us along on that track, winding back.... :) Your photos of the clouds and spectacular views are wonderful, as usual. I love that photo of your house and front garden.
ReplyDeleteMs. Scarlet (um, Crimson) is just popping 'em out one after the other, isn't she? Cheaper by the dozen they say! But who's gonna pay the rent?
I'm glad you got a little rain. We could use a bit too, but I don't want to spoil this week's gorgeous weather.
Ross wants to know how much water is in your tanks??
All those beautiful cloud pictures, that second shot looks like you could just reach up and touch them!
ReplyDeleteso big and fluffy, beautiful!!
Thanks for sharing your walk, & the beauty seen through your eyes on your walk!!
Catherine
HI, I just wanna wish you a HAPPY weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments:)
I posted a cows B&W collage today:)
Have a great weekend !
JoAnn :)
alice - that cloud in photo 2 is phenomenal, almost surreal! I've never seen clouds that big and so low! wow!
ReplyDeleteHi Alice ~~ Beautiful photos as usual
ReplyDeleteshowing off our lovely country. The clouds are great and the trees, well
they are superb. And I like the name
Brindabella. I think Graeme Connors mentions them in a song of his.
That Rosella will have a big family if they all hatch. Glad you got some rain in your new tanks. Take care, Love, Merle.
Hello Alice, thanks for visiting my blog recently and leaving a comment...of course, I had to visit you too and what a beautiful tour of the Australian countryside I found....your photos are wonderful. One thing I noticed right away are all the eucalyptus trees, as we have lots of those here in Southern California too. The story I heard once was that they were imported (maybe over 100 years ago) because they grow so fast and it was thought they'd be good to use for telephone poles, but it turned out they weren't).
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading your blog, a quick look this morning. You have lots of interesting things going on with the birds and the scenery, etc....and I'd like to add you to my sidebar as a link if that's ok with you.
One of those clouds looks like a flying duck - really!!!
ReplyDeleteAren't clouds fascinating? They have been as beautiful around here...of course they are Gods creation, so I guess they are beautiful everywhere.....
ReplyDeleteLove the rain clouds!
ReplyDeleteNeat clouds! The first few look like Somebody up in heaven is smoking a cigarette, just puffing away! Wow those Crimson Rosella's are gorgeous, and this is fun getting literally a "birds eye view" of the "babies to be."
ReplyDeleteHaven't those damn eggs hatched yet??
ReplyDeleteLike your tank configuration. Music indeed!
