Last November, when we made the literally spur-of-the-moment decision to take a trip to Europe, the one attraction that we knew we wanted to see was the Tulip Gardens in Keukenhof in the Netherlands. The rest of our itinerary would fall into place around this visit.
We visited these beautiful gardens with Russell, Shannon and baby Evelynne, and found that we were as impressed by the magnificent trees and the gardens overall as much as by the tulips themselves. Here are just a few of the hundreds of photos taken that day.
These are fields of commercially grown tulips and would normally be a spectacle of colour. We were a little late in the season though and all the flowers had been harvested.
Some 'flowers' are more beautiful than others, I'm sure you'll agree.
These are absolutely delightful, and a nostalgic trip back into the lovely bulb catalogs which my Mississippi Mammaw received each year from the TWO Hollands---Netherlands and Michigan.
ReplyDeleteI wish she could have seen what you saw, and what you portray in your lovely photography.
I was also delighted to see that there is such a storehouse in your archives. I'll be checking back in often to catch up on your past glories, and looking forward to the new.

Wow! Great photos from an absolutely gorgeous setting.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found my blog because I have thoroughly enjoyed reading yours. What a delightful tour of Europe you had and a grand daughter to visit too. It brought back memories of our last trip there in September last year. We didn't see those beautiful gardens in Holland. Your photos are great.

This site is the Swiss Cheese makers web page. You can buy over the internet. In fact that is how he does most of his business. You don't have to live in Brisbane he sells all over Australia in special cool pack containers. Unfortunately he is going to Switzerland to see his parents and he will be away for a few months. But he is still here at the moment.Your daughter might like to see the site and what is available.
What a delightful treat with my morning coffee! I'm on my second cup now and have spent a wonderful half hour of so enlarging each photo to see all the marvelous details. Ross and I have oohed and aahed and enjoyed them all. The only thing better would be to have enjoyed the day with you there amid all that glorious beauty.
ReplyDeleteSo many things to comment on, but one prevailing thought is the arrangement of the swathes of colour. So beautifully done, with very little of the glaring red and yellow placed together. And all those magnificent trees enhancing the beauty.
That little pink-hatted flower is the prettiest of all, of course :)
We loved seeing the family photos mixed with these glorious scenes. Marvelous photography!
Thank you, thank you for sharing this wonderful place, dear Alice.
Wow, Alice, those are some stunning gardens. That must have been a great trip!
ReplyDeleteHi Alice, thank you for stopping by. You are right for me early mornings are the best, I am an early riser.
ReplyDeleteThe photos from the Keukenhof gardens are stunning. I always loved tulips, unfortunately they are not growing in my subtropical garden. It must have been a wonderful trip together with your family. The little darling enjoys the flowers. Never to early to be enthralled by gardens.
Beautiful! What a lovely place! Is that your sweet little granddaughter?
ReplyDeleteOh so beautiful I never went to the keukenhof My family did. I can't complain though I just went to Holland 2 months ago and had a fantastic time and saw lots of other beauty
ReplyDeleteYour photographs have beautifully captured these exquisite gardens.
ReplyDeleteA tulip garden?!! I'm in heaven just looking at the photos (tulips being my all-time favourite flowers and all)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes that Evelynne-flower is the most exquisite of all!
Thank you for stopping by my blog. You've been to the Netherlands! Great! The only thing I have seen there is the airport and I live so much closer than you do. Looks like you had a wonderful trip. Best regards, Andrea
ReplyDeleteHoly, what a feast for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteOh Frances! The glorious Keukenhof Gardens in springtime is unsurpassed, such floral designs and colours..... simply stunning! Not too many folk about either to crowd your pictures.
