"Will we sit on the northern side....
....... or would the southern side be better?"
"Perhaps we could try the seats on the left lower down, although they are reserved for the gentry."

"Yes, this looks like the ideal spot."
Our contribution to the program was an appalling rendition of Australia's National Anthem (Advance Australia Fair), but the program definitely took a turn for the better, via my iPod, which gave a certain Australian Tenor an opportunity to perform a little of 'J'ai perdu mon Eurydice' from Orpheus and Eurydice on this ancient stage.
You did a real nice tour ! These roman theatres are amazing you find them almost everywhere in Europe and even in Turkey or Egypt !
ReplyDeleteHello Alice. Nice to see another Australian visiting and thank you for leaving a comment. My daughter is flying over to see her father the day before the op and will stay a few days. We've all got our fingers crossed for him.
ReplyDeleteAah, so you've been to France. I am to get to Europe within the next couple of years of so. It's my next project for the savings.
Good to see you Alice. Do you mid if I add you to my blog list?
I'm sure you made a nice lead-in for the fabulous Australian Tenor :)
ReplyDeleteThat's quite the ancient theatre. Wow! Amazing to tread where people sat and watched entertainment so long ago. I wonder what they saw.
So nice to see you two :)
What did Richard do to his wrist?
What a great experience to tread the boards where artists performed centuries ago. If only the stones could talk.
ReplyDeleteThere is also a Roman theatre in near Split, Croatia. We visited there a few years ago with my daughter and her family when they were living in Bosnia. I didn't realize there were so many. Of course, the one in Rome is the most notable. I have visited there. I wonder is Christian were killed for entertainment in all the theatres or just in Rome.
