Yesterday's Garden

Yesterday was the sunniest day we've had for a while, so I managed a couple of photos while the sun was out and there was a lull in the wind. Ever notice that just when you want to photograph a plant, the wind begins to blow and the plant waves about madly?
Now, if only I could find a space for all the plants we bought in the last week or so!!!

  2. You must spend many hours creating this beautiful garden, and I for one think it is worth it...I'm sounding selfish as I get to enjoy the fruits of your labor...Have a great weekend......:-) Hugs

  4. Those gazinias (hope that is right name) middle photo...used to be prolific in the middle bed in the back but I gave them...some of them ...to my neighbour....she still has them. I have not a one.
Maybe I need to pinch them back...however that bed now gets too much shade from Pistacia chinensis which is a wonderful alternative to a Rhus and colors well for me here in Melbourne.

  5. Thank you so much for these long shots, Alice. Your garden is looking very happy since it's had some good rain. And I'm happy to see you taking a renewed interest in it and enjoying working among the flowers and plants.
Those gazanias are such pretty colors. I especially like the pink ones.
What a lovely collection of trees and shrubs you have.
Springtime in your garden is so bright and cheery....a lovely place to be!

  9. Your garden looks just beautiful, Alice. Ours are so dry at the moment. We have 3 underground water tanks so we can water, but the wind dries it out just as quickly. The lawns are all brown...it's so sad.

  11. You two have created a piece of magic. The gardens are fabulous. That is one advantage of cooler wetter climate. Although it can get awfully hot in summer so it must be tricky to get heat resistant and frost resistant plants. If you can't find a space for the new plants send them up here I have spaces that need filling. I don't have a Flame Tree in my garden but I had 2 Jacarandas, which I had cut down and poisoned (don't cry) but they won't die. I have to keep poisoning the new shoots. The reason I got rid of them was because in the last drought they stole the water from the native trees, and they are very messy. I don't mind the flowers falling but when the leaves fall the big stalks that hold the leaves fall and cover the other plants in the garden. Another reason was that neither were a very nice shape or prolific bloomers. Do I sound like I have to justify to myself why I got rid of them........its true.
