Farewell to the Shortest Day.

At 4.45pm I thought I'd better go and take some photos of the sunset - even if there wasn't one - to celebrate the Shortest Day of the Year in the Southern Hemisphere.

  1. Such a gorgeous sky, I love the colours! Oh my Alice now you are at the point where in winter I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark, too much darkness for my taste. Luckily it's summer here right now and we in the Nothern Hemisphere are having the longest day of the year today! The sun rises at 4.43 am and sun set is at 21.34 pm

  3. Your shortest day is our longest day. Hard to imagine! The sunrise is fabulous.

Two of my grandchildren are coming over today to celebrate the longest day of the year. My husband took the day off from work, so he wouldn't miss the fun.

They will want eat popsicles on the porch swing and play in the garden hose. They will undoubtedly ask to make giant bubbles and have a "War of the Rose Petals!"

(They pull the spent rose petals off my pink Bonica rose bushes and throw them at each other!)

  10. My favourite day of the year! Now every day is getting longer and closer to summer. That is until we hit the dreaded summer solstice.

  11. I wrote a comment yesterday and Blogger gave me an error message!
    Trying again!
I like the longest day better than the shortest..more time to work outside and warmer temps. I always need more hours!
The colors are glorious and so are your pictures!
