Yesterday we visited these country gardens. It was quite a warm day but shade offered by the lovely trees would make these gardens a delightful place to relax on the hottest of days.
Several sections of these gardens were destroyed in the 2003 bushfires and it is a credit to all concerned for their impressive restoration.
The strength of Wisteria.
Tulip and birch trees.
Fenced vegetable garden to keep out the rabbits and peacocks.
Just wonderful! All these beautiful, old trees!! Thank you for sharing this lovely garden tour!And you seem to have summer weather according to the clothes. I envy you! We have had our first frost last night and now I am going to see what happened to the potflowers which are still in the garden....

ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a beautiful place with such wonderful trees. It's hard to fathom that the gardens can look so green and and healthy without much rainfall.

Lovely gardens. I really like the tree with the yellow leaves. It that it's natural color, or is it changing for a new season?

No rain - the 'yellow' tree in the third photo is a variegated Liriordendron (Tulip tree). The leaf markings are much more distinct close up, but from a distance they appear to merge into one colour. It will remain that colour until the autumn and then change to reds/golds.
ReplyDeleteThe 'yellow' trees on the left of the fifth photo are Gleditsias. That colour will deepen to green through the summer before falling in the autumn.
