Crab Apple Crazy

Every year Richard watches the Crab Apple trees come into bud, anticipating the beauty of these trees in full blossom.
Worth waiting for, don't you think?

  1. He and I both...but what is that one called. Mine is just coming out...it is the only one with pink blossom and they are like little packed squares before they burst into flower. I have a purple leaf one, Mallus Mattom I think and a couple of the red berry ones, probably floribunda and one (self sown I suspect) that has yellow fruit. I planted a new floribunda before the self sown one had berries last year.
I only have the three last ones out together, the Mattom is first and this pink one is last. I saw it outside the plastic surgeon's office and they did not know what it was, then I saw it without a label in KMart so grabbed it and missed the flowers last year and thought it was never going to flower this year. The apple trees are lovely also. Richard has good taste...LOL

    Gorgeous. Love that last pic.

Am jealous of your spring, since I was looking forward to having seasons - but we've been robbed. And my Chinese teacher told me today that we only really get summer and winter - never an autumn or spring. Sigh...

  4. Tell Richard how much I enjoyed this from so far away!

The blossoms are like ethereal fabric in all the colors of PALE there are, cut and arranged in such profuse glory it's hard to take it all in.

    Just lovely. Perfectly lovely.

  6. Its been a long time since I've visited your beautiful gardens - Catching up a bit today -- I can nearly smell those blossoms! How I miss them. We had a small crabapple tree which was frozen one year in the Berkshires and a huge apple tree which topped our 3 story house. Both long gone, but the vivid memory of that lucious pink, heavenly scent and comforting bumblebee drone lives on forever. Thanks for the memory!

  9. They are so glorious!! I love them, and they always make me think of frothy Brides of the 50s who wore those lovely lacy frilly frocks and looked so sweet!

  10. I was thinking along the same lines as Meggie...pretty party dresses...all frilly in the palest of pink.
What a treat to enjoy your beautiful spring blooms while our garden fades away for another season.
Yes, the crabapple blossoms are most definitely worth the wait - absolutely glorious!
Will you and Richard please breathe deeply of that wonderfully perfumed spring air and blow a whiff of it over the pond to us?
In return we'll send you the scent of woodsmoke and wet leaves :)
I've just baked pumpkin cheesecake bars. Want to pop over for some dessert and a cuppa? We'll wait :)
Enjoy your spring dear Alice and Richard. Thanks for sharing the beauty. Is that the cherry tree behind the crabapple?
