I did it today.
I've never done it before.
It wasn't as daunting as I thought it might be.
I tried things I've never tried before.
There were several other people there,
and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I didn't get as tired as I thought I might.
I'd like to do it several times a week.
In fact, I'll probably go to the gym again on Wednesday.

Congrats! You feel good when you accomplish something like that, don't you.....I always feel better after I excercise, even when it's just my tap dancing classes....and then I walk almost 3 miles 2 or 3 times aweek....and I can feel the difference.....I am starting weight watchers on wed......age seems to attach pounds on ya.....
Alice, Good for you! I'm very impressed.
Did you try out all the different machines? Which one did you like best?
I have an exercise bike that I rarely ride....it doesn't go anywhere! Ross even put a book rack on it for me, but the poor bike still sits there looking lonely.
Perhaps if I could blog while riding......
Keep up the good work!
Way to go! I love to excerise. You feel so much better afterward and you feel like you got something accomplished. If you keep it up for three months you will be amazed at the results.
Alice! good for you. Exercise is good for the body & soul.
Good for you...I haven't gone to the gym lately, but I remember how good it felt coming out of there. I wanted to do more physical things, and had more energy.
I looked at all your flicker pictures today. Your flowers are simply amazing and so colorful too. I can clearly see why you named your blog, "A Growing Delight" because your flowers are just that.
Congrats and well done Alice!!
Go Alice! Well done to you, you're a better woman than I :)
Sounds great Alice.
Good for you, Alice. My husband and I joined a health club several months ago. We really enjoy it, not only for the exercise, but because we get a chance to see and talk with a lot of folks that we know who also attend the club. Exercise if great for getting you in shape for gardening, and vice versa. Me, I'm getting in shape for total knee replacement surgery in April, and all this exercise will be a benefit for when I have to do rehab.
Hope you keep up the good work at the gym.
Yay, Alice!
I'm sure you'll enjoy the stress release/mood elevation as well as the extra energy you'll get from improving your fitness.
By the way, take a look at Motherkitty's gym-themed, latest post - it's very amusing!

Believe it or not, physical exercise is good for mental health too - lots of blood circulating around the brain, and feeling physically better gives you a positive outlook on life. Not only that, we keep our knees supple for all that gardening!
Val - that last sentence is a total lie. My knees don't feel the least bit supple today; they feel like they are superglued into one position only. However, I'm willing to hope for better in the future.
Thank you all for being so encouraging. Whilst I may not make the marathon in Beijing, London in 2012 is looking promising ... lol
Your have to becareful. Those endorphins are addictive. I can't live without my run now I am so addictive.
Congratulations on your exercise program. I wonder whether you were working out on the machines or taking an aerobics class. I really love going to our YMCA for a swim, but will often just workout on the elliptical crosstrainer --because I can get finished faster. I see signs in your latest photos that things are looking like late summer there. When the cold weather arrives, you will really appreciate being able to get to the gym I bet.
