..... there's no season quite like it for stirring one into action, particularly in the garden as everything - trees, shrubs, bulbs, flowers, vegetables, AND weeds - burst forth and grow like there's no tomorrow. Whilst trying to keep pace with it all, one also needs to take a few moments to appreciate all that nature is once more enchanting us with.
Step out the front door to not only the magnificent cherry tree blossoms but the joyful sound of the thousands of bees enjoying them too.
Tulips, daffodils and ajuga.
Californian poppy escapees are too pretty to destroy before flowering.
Primulas and calendulas.
Lamium
? (I forget)
Single pink daisy - hardy and pretty.
Tulips
Cotinus (Smoke Bush) Forest Pansy
The ever-present Osteospermum (African Daisies)
More blossom - in case you forgot what it looked like .... lol.
lovely
ReplyDeleteAlice,
ReplyDeleteYou KNOW you're my breath-of-whatever-season we're not having!! We just before the glory of October, with cool days and chilly nights (55 F. right now) and a slow, gentle rain has been falling ALL DAYm, making sky and ground gray and beige.
These are such BRIGHTS of the days, and I always love to think if maybe I look DOWN far enough, I can see to the far side of the Earth and bask in all those lovelies. The pastels are so delightful, and SO make this brownish wet day enjoyable, too.

Oh, My. My typing tells me not to write something just as I come here to turn off for the night (without my glasses!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a veritable feast of blossoms you have Miss Alice! It must be pure heaven to step out your door and see those glorious cherry blossoms. I can well imagine the bees enjoying the feast.
ReplyDeleteYou have so much bright, spring colour in your wonderful garden to brighten your days. It's a lovely time of year, isn't it?
Those California Poppies are so cheerful and I adore Primulas...especially that particular variety and colour because they're the ones my mother always grew. She also grew those pretty pink daisies.
Thanks for sharing your lovely spring garden. You and Richard have done a beautiful job and your labours of love are being richly rewarded.
We had wonderful, warm sunshine here today!! :)
What beautiful pictures...it is spring there isn't it...we are in fall, but nothing is pretty yet... I have a feel fall is going to get in and get out real fast, before we can enjoy it...it's been a crazy year back in the good old USA.. or at least in Ohio...
ReplyDeleteThank you for teasing us back here. judy
Hi. I've been enjoying your blog for a while and thought it was about time I said hello. Your garden is looking wonderful. Btw I think your ? is a loropetalum?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular cherry blossoms Alice, you must be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteWhat don't you have in your gardens? Amazing !
ReplyDeleteMy spring will never be as stunning as yours but I'm still looking forward to it.
I'm enjoying your spring gardens again. They are so full of beauty. I can imagine you and Richard lovingly tending them in the warm sunshine. Hopefully not too warm, with perhaps a nice rain thrown in here and there.
ReplyDeleteThat cherry tree is a wonder! How wonderful it must be to breathe the perfume. I'd be burying my nose in those blossoms, hopefully without being stung by a bee :)
We sang "In the Garden" today during the memorial service. It was at the top of Ross' favourite hymn list. "I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses....."
What a beautiful service it was...a glorious tribute to a life well lived. I felt your thoughts and prayers with me. Thank you, dear friend. It's so good to walk here with you in your beautiful garden.
xoxo
