Fauna and Flora - a couple of Aussie Natives

These two Magpies sat in a Eucalypt tree and warbled melodiously for shoppers at Hall markets on Sunday.

(I can't believe they've gone again! ...STUFF IT!)

Despite the cold of a Canberra winter and continuing lack of rain there are still a few spots of colour in the garden, such as this Native Hibiscus. It flowers almost continuously throughout the year with brilliant purple flowers. The leaves are very similar to the lemon-scented pelargonium. I also have a white variety of the hibiscus, but it is yet to flower.

Hello dear Alice. Wish I could see your pictures, but alas...all I see are little boxes with x's. Perhaps they'll be there when I look again this afternoon. I had some missing yesterday, but they mysteriously reappeared.
Hope you're well. I'm working this week! I need to stay home and catch up! Soon, hopefully. xoxo

Yes, me too, no pictures.....but they sound like they would be pretty....I can't even post pictures on blog or etsy, I get cut off line and sent back to my desktop.....it is frustrating me....

That's really strange because the photos are there when I look. Perhaps it's a breakdown in communication between the USA and Australia ...lol.

Nope, I can't see the photos from Melbourne either...

But good to see you are posting again.

Funny that I can't see them either NOW, but they were there long after Kerri and Judy couldn't see them. I was wondering if we're on different planets, but I see we're all back with 'dear, dear blogger' now!!!

I can see them now,Alice, but about half an hour ago, Blogger sites weren't working at all. What's going on? This is happening more and more frequently now.

I can see your gorgeous pictures now Alice, which makes me very happy! That hibiscus is the most beautiful shade of purple! The close-up flower looks magnificent with the water drops covering the petals.
I can just hear those magpies warbling.....I wish!
What's the white flower behind the hibiscus?

Kerri - glad to hear you can see the photos now. The purple hibiscus is in fact almost 'royal purple', somewhat darker than in the photo. The white flowers behind it are white Iceberg roses.

I didn't want to be the one to break the news, but they were gone when I was here visiting last night. I thought they just might come back on their own, but no such luck so far.
Tsk, tsk.
Hope you've had a lovely Sunday. We went to a chicken BBQ last night, followed by a fun Blue Grass concert.
