Home from the Hills

Thank you to so many people for their Congratulations and Good Wishes on our 40th Wedding Anniversary. They are appreciated - every one of them.

We had a wonderful few days in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. We stayed at the Bellbirds B&B, set amidst lovely gardens where the Bellbirds call all day and the frogs croak all night.

The unit was fully self-contained, although our delicious breakfast was cooked for us each day by our very friendly hosts and served in their beautiful conservatory.

Our attic bedroom was huge, and I really wanted to bring it back for the grandchildren to play in. It was fantastic and was so cosy when the dark clouds and thunder rolled in on Sunday afternoon, and down came the rain. I was hoping it would rain so that I could listen to it on the roof. It was so wet that evening that we didn't bother going to a restaurant for dinner. We stayed home and ate 2 peaches, plus a whole large apple pie and a bottle of cream. Yummy!!!

During the weekend we visited 2 spectacular gardens at Mt Wilson and the Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens. Shopped at the Blackheath Markets and were bedazzled by thousands of beautiful items at the Antique Stalls. We ate wonderful meals that I didn't have to prepare, saw magnificent scenery, took lots of photos, read books and had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing time.

We don't think we'll wait 40 years to do it again!!!

That's the way, Alice - enjoy every opportunity you can get to do that!

A meal of the whole apple pie and cream, eh! I'd like to see that loaded onto our 'truck' with all the other goodies...

Your little vacation to the Blue Mountains sounds delightful. And I really like the menu for your impromptu dinner on Sunday! Nothing better than peaches, apple pie, and cream!

That really sounds perfect...your short stay in the Blue Mountains. I like the bedroom, the impromptu dinner and the walks you had in the Botanical gardens. I'm sure you'll share some more pictures, won't you! Hopefully you don't wait another 40 years for the next "honeymoon" vacation....
Wishing you all the best!

It looks and sounds glorious! I'm glad you had such a wonderful time. What a pretty room, and rain on the roof was the icing on the cake, I'm sure!
Oh dear, no shortbread for you after all that apple pie and cream, tsk tsk (sound delightful) :)
I hope the frogs didn't keep you awake.
Looking forward to more beautiful photos Alice. I hope you won't disappoint us!

Congratulations on 40 years of marriage (with the same man!)

We are looking forward to our 35th next July, and are trying to think of someplace special to go. Maybe we should try the Blue Mountains also. Now that would be a major trip!

Glad you had a good time, here's to many more years together.
