About 18 months ago Richard constructed this wood-burning BBQ. Naturally we don't use it during the summer months, not only due to the possibility of fire danger, but there is so much heat given off by the fire that it would be very uncomfortable during the hot weather.
However, now that winter is almost here and the evenings are getting very chilly, the warmth of the fire is very welcome, as well as doing a great job of cooking the meat for dinner.
Sitting by the fire, nursing a bottle of beer, is becoming Richard's favourite time of day, and always elicits the comment, "THIS is the life!!!"

Now that is fantastic! Wish we could join you! Larry
Fabulous spot in the cooler weather ... I think Richard's got it spot on!
Oh, to sit before that warming fire, in the company of genial friends (May I have tea instead, please?)!
What a talented craftsman he is, and how lovely the spot you have created.
With those gardens and those views, and now this wonderful place for relaxing, I wonder that you EVER travel from home.
This is a wonderful idea. I love the way you used the bricks on the side as pavers. I wish I could get my husband to build me something like this for our winters here in So. California. It would be so nice to sit out at a fire in the evening.
I agree with Richard only I enjoy a nice glass of wine by the fire.
Love your fireplace (BBQ)....Hugs
We up here in North Queensland are very impressed and hope to partake in a meal from the bbq sometime in the next bunch of months...
Being content with one's life is a wonderful thing. Good for, Richard. The BBQ looks fabulous. Enjoy.

My father was from uruguay, where I lived many years. Every house had brick barbecues like yours. Miam!
Love it! I believe that Richard is a keeper, he is soooo handy, always building something. Enjoy the cool weather while we are warming up quickly here.
Life doesn't get much better except for me it would be a glass of red wine.(and warmer weather)
