Almost 'no room at the inn'

It must get very crowded in here when the parent birds come to feed the babies. The tail feathers of the third chick can be seen at the top of the photo. I could see two birds breathing but not the other one; I hope it's still alive.
Surely it can't be long now before they try out those little wings. We'll really have to be on the alert for stray cats then!

Alice, I am in suspenders waiting to hear the fate of the birdies - particularly one the one you thought might not have been breathing.

It's fascinating to see how quickly the little birdies change and grow. I do hope the third one is alive and well. Do you have many stray cats around? I hope the little ones stay safe.
It's a dangerous world out there.
Thanks for sharing their progress Alice.

It's been fun to watch these little fellows grow and those beautiful colours come in.

They remind me of my single days, when I used to breed budgerigars.

Thank you so much for sharing your precious little babies of your garden.
I hope the 3rd little one is ok.
Are those loose feathers in the box, & would that be usual?

they look so squashed...have you checked recently if they are ok when the parents arent there? When will they be ready to leave the nest for a bit?

Hi Alice,
For some obscure reason, I haven't visited your blog for some time (it's now back on the Favorites ready to put on the blog sidebar!) and I've just spent half an hour catching up with you. I must show Ken your bird photos -he will be delighted. His budgies have just hatched their second brood, and he has been taking them out of the nest box for a closer look - naughty! I tell him. The poor little parents go beserk! But they haven't come to any harm.
I don't need to tell you your garden is quite spectacular...everyone else here has already said it, so...ditto!!

What an amazing photograph. You can't believe how they get into such small nest boxes. I hope all the chicks are ok. Sara from farmingfriends

Hi Alice,
Thanks for sharing your photos. The birds are growing well. Hope the 3rd one is OK. At least they have a better chance in there than out in the open. Your garden is looking beautiful also. We have had a bit of rain this morning and the sky is as grey as here as it is in your photos from a few days ago. Fingers crossed, the plants need a 'wash' and drink.
Cheers for now,
Jenny
