This photo was taken on 20/11, only a matter of hours before this little bird ventured out into the big wide world, following his brother who left a couple of days earlier. Once they came out of the birdhouse it really was up, up and away. No floundering around trying to test their wings - they were off and flying immediately.
You've following the progress of these young Crimson Rosellas since before their birth..........
and now guess what?
Mother has been coming back to the nest in recent days ...
and there are TWO new eggs there now!!!
Gosh, who'd be a female bird?????

That is such a great shot! It has been interesting to follow the birds' progress.
I guess you'll be back to more frequent posting again now you've regained several hours a week, Alice - but it has been fun sharing all those antics we got up to on-line. I'll bet you are enjoying your new DH CD as much as the rest of us!

I enjoyed seeing the gardens at Mt Buffalo Chalet, and the beautiful mountain views seen on your trip from Bright to Buffalo! You have some big mountains there, I didn't know you were a mountain climber.

I'm so glad their first flight went OK. Even though that means they are away.
You certainly are a good bird taker, the mother would not have started another clutch otherwise.
I'm glad you got one last lovely shot of this little beauty before he took off. Do you know if they stay close to the parents for a while to be fed?
Goodness, I wouldn't want to be a female bird, that's for sure! Poor mummy! A mummy bird's work is never done, apparently!

That’s a brilliant picture and it has been very interesting to see these little birds develop. So now they are off into that big world. Here’s wishing them safe keeping and who knows they may remember their birthplace and be back to start all over again. Little do they know how famous they have become. Have a great weekend. What a lovely ending to the Rosella story. Now we will await the sequel which I am sure will be just as sucessful.
The Silky Oak is a magnificent tree. We have a baby one, given by the same aunt who gave us the Jacaranda.
