Blogging Gremlins

Is anyone else having problems with their comments not registering? I always 'Preview' my comments now, in case I've mis-typed the 'Word Verification' (let's face it, I often have trouble reading it, let alone typing it!) and even though I'm sure I've pressed 'Publish this Comment', sometimes it doesn't appear on the relative blog.

Another hiccup that's really starting to bug me is when I access a blog and the first posting that appears may be several weeks/months old. This happens everytime I go into 3 blogs that I can think of. I either have to go into 'Archives' and call up Current Posts or in one case I have to go to the bottom of the page and press 'HOME' to bring up the lastest postings.

Perhaps it's all a not-so-subtle hint from a higher power that I should do some work instead of blogging.

no, please keep up the blogging! Your photos are a real joy to look at. I always have a peek at your latest pictures, even if I don't leave a comment (usually because too many others have jumped in before me!)

Alice,
Your not alone. I have to really study the word varifications also. Glad to know that I am not the only one. Hopefully this one isn't a tough one.

If you type in the incorrect word verfication, it should just open this comment page again.

If you really are havign so much trouble, clear out your cache, sometimes if you're visiting the blog once in 14 days, then it might be that your browser is loading from it's history. :)

Hope that helps.

Thank you, Camphor, for your advice. Yes, I have found that I get another chance at the Word Verification. Your other comment made me smile when you said "if I'm only visiting a blog once in 14 days" ..... try 14 minutes !!!

haha Alice - every 14 mins ...well you could be doing worse - at least surfing blogs is cheap and legal ;) ...please don't give up blogging..we would miss you

lol, every 14 minutes! Wish I had time like that... ((BTW, if you visit that frequently, then your problem is detinately cookies.)) I will have time like that for the next four days, after that, it will be snatch-time-when-you-can...

I do have a huge garden at home, however, I have nothing to do with it's upkeep. Perhaps becuase I live at a dorm/hostel, I just haven't been around enough.

However, you have inspired me, and I went around, camera in hand, looking for something to photograph. Unfortunately, my city just got flooded, and all I can see is poor droopy plants complaining about an overdose of water after at least two years of drought!

I've blogrolled you, I hope you don't mind. :D

Camphor - I'm just kidding about the '14 minutes', but it's certainly sooner than 14 days.

I hope your city dries out soon without too much damage.

Alice, On the blogs that come up with old posts...it sounds like you put in in your favorites from that particular post, so everytime you go there you get that post. Try hitting "home", then putting it in your favorites. (delete the old one in your favorites) The next time you go there, you should be on the current page. At least that is what has happened to me in the past.
Yes, I find the word verification hard to read...terrible font and now they are often way too long. It is a necessary pain!

just hit refresh if the posts are old... sometimes but rarely it happens to me too.

So wonderful to see flowers in bloom while ours are all fading fast. Your lavender looks so different from our lavender. I'm going to shoot a closeup of ours so we can compare! If you have a close-up of yours, can you post? Also, I was wondering if you have baobab trees in Australia? - they have a bizarre root system that's all above ground. I enjoy your site!

Peggy - thanks for the hint. Actually, I think Zoey was spot on when she suggested that I had saved them to Favourites when I wasn't on the latest posting. I have re-saved them and all seems to be well.

Judith - we do have Baobab trees (Adansonia) in Australia, mostly in Western and Central Australia and the Northern Territory. They have swollen trunks and are often called Bottle Trees. I couldn't see any reference to the roots being above the ground so I'm wondering if we are referring to the same tree? They wouldn't grow this far south as it's too cold and frosty.

Re the lavender - there are so many different varieties available now, many with 'wings' on the flowers. I still think the old English lavender is the best for perfume, though.
