It wasn't all pretty leaves and Black Mountain Tower yesterday. The water, land and sky held other interests.
A Black Swan family out for a morning swim.
Kangaroos resting in the shade.
Sulphur- crested Cockatoos in flight.
A congenial mix of birdlife.

Oh I would give anything to see all those Cockatoos in flight!! (I am a Cockatoo mom myself :)
Love all the pictures of your outing, glad it is cool enough to enjoy the outdoors again. Beautiful area, is this near your home?
Love those kangaroos! nice photos, beautiful down there!
That's where all our black swans have migrated too. They're Western Australia's feathered emblem and we're quite proud of them. They're obviously having a little autumn break in Canberra, Alice.
To me I would love to see kangaroos in my back yard, but let me ask you a question. Do having so many kangaroos running around cause any kind of destruction? Like eating your gardens or crops?
I love see the pictures that you post of Australia.
Abandoned in Pasadena - as a rule, kangaroos don't come into urban areas and gardens. You may see an odd one that seems to have lost its way, but that's all. However, for the farmers it's a different story. Often mobs of kangaroos reach almost plague proportions and can do enormous damage to crops and fences. The culling of kangaroos, either sanctioned or otherwise, always creates a lot of controversy. Sadly, most of the kangaroos we see are lying dead on the road, having been hit by cars at sundown or sunrise, which is when they are usually on the move looking for food.
Alice,
Roos and Wallabys are very shy here in Tassie. We rarely see them except at dusk or dead. Do you see them often in the day? These pictures are super.
Such lovely photos, as usual Alice. We had sky like that here yesterday. It was so clear, just like that beautiful blue behind your cockies. Looks like you have lots of cockatoos around your area. Are they much of a pest? Wonderful seeing all the wild life...thank you! Lovely swans, cute kangas, delightful duckies :)
Great photos, Alice. Love the cockatoos ... did you ever hear the little video I put on my blog early last month, which depicts the noise these critters makes. We were deafened all day, one day, when we were on the Murray at Cobram. It was hilarious (and really, really loud !!!)
Thanks for sharing ... must make a trip to Canberra again soon. Beautiful city. Is Cockington Green still in existence ??? I loved that place when I was a kid.
Take care, Meow
Lovely to walk in your beautiful land with you and to see your wildlife. I laughed as I scrolled down and hit the photo of the kangaroos. Well of course! but still a surprise to me. The cockatoo flight is spectacular! So happy to have been introduced to your blog - another lovely evening read for me.
