Following yesterday's posting I decided to add this photo of my parents on their wedding day.
They had been married for 49 years when Mum died in 1984. Dad passed away in 1991. So last October would have been their 70th Anniversary.

Don't they look serious? (well, marriage is a serious business, I guess!)
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Lovely couple. Your mom's bouquet is huge and beautiful.
I love old photographs ~ and have a passion for wedding photos...they look very dashing and your mums entire outfit and flowers is so romantic...
I love old wedding photos too ! thanks so much for showing us this
Congratulations on your own anniversary. I think it is lovely that you view your life as blessed - in a world where complaining has become an art form it's lovely to hear gratitude for a life well lived. I love these old photos - I just took a couple of albums from my grandmas to get copies made of the old pictures she has. I'm making it a mission to learn my family history because I am feeling more and more that my roots are important to me. It was lovely to visit here today.
What a stunning photo of your parents.
I'm curious was the photo taken the day of their wedding or a few days later - as my Grandparents wedding photo was? Grandmas dress has the creases in it from when it was packed away.
Now we know where you get your good looks from.
I love old family photos, they are the best. This one is lovely--thanks for sharing it.
Calidore - I imagine that the photo was taken the same day. I'm sure they didn't have a honeymoon and I don't think they would have gotten dressed up again on another day for the photos. I have seen another photo with the bridesmaid and best man in it, so I think they must have been taken on the wedding day. Ironically, the only people I still know who were there that day are the widowed partners of the two attendants, and as they are both in their nineties, they may not remember either.
Shannon - I think Russ and Dad both have that imperious look. Actually, Dad was a very handsome man, even into old age.
