It Seemed Like a Good Idea - at the Time!

On Monday evening Tanya suggested that we get up early on Tuesday, drive to the other side of town and walk around Lake Tuggeranong before having breakfast at the Hyperdome. She could then finish her Christmas Shopping before the shops got too crowded.

It did seem like a good idea, at the time! After a 25 minute drive, we parked in the shade of a tree near the Hyperdome and set off around the lake. I don't know how big this lake is, except that it was 1 hour and 20 minutes fairly brisk walking before we returned. Notwithstanding the aching feet, it was a lovely walk - much preferable to walking around the shopping centres.

Hi Alice,
Thanks for your kind comment on my blog today. In scanning your material I see that Ginny and I have a lot in common with you and your husband -- i.e. we have also just celebrated our 38th anniversary; we also have four grown children; and we also love gardening.

But the photos you post prove that your garden is far ahead of ours.

Your post about Age Related Attention Deficite Disorder really touched a nerve with me.

I'll be back to check more later -- assuming, of course, that we survive the frenzy of Christmas I see ahead.

What a gorgeous day. Thank you for your photos.

It boggles the mind that some people actually would rather walk around a shopping center than around this lovely lake.

Oh Alice, you just have to brag don't you.....nice walk, beautiful warm weather, green trees, and I could go on.....but I have to go turn my furnace up, it is 7 degrees out here in toledo...LOL

Judy - if I could bottle the sunshine, green trees and relaxed walk (actually not sure on that last one - not with Tanya saying "Come on Mum, you can walk faster than that".) - I would send it all to you for Christmas. Then you could return it during our winter, although we don't have to contend with snow, just the occasional heavy frost, which thaws by about 10.00am.

At first I thought the pictures were blurred...

but once I wiped the snow from my eyeglasses I could see how beautiful it is in your part of the world...I am jealous, too!

Love the black swans. We see one every now and then here and it is always a treat.

EVER so much better than walking around a mall, no matter what the weather. There's a lot to be said for walking in not-so-nice weather too - there are fewer people and generally you see the real nature lovers then. We once visited the National Rhododendron Gardens in the Dandenongs on a really rainy day - needless to say we had the place to ourselves!

I too am jealous! It is 22 degrees F. here in Georgia this morning, Buddy just stoked up the wood fire, and I have my little heater here under my desk. Beautiful pictures as always. Beautiful reflection in the lake, love the mountains. Thanks for sharing!

I would love nothing more right now than to go for a nice walk around that lovely place. Instead I am off for a run on a wet windy day.

Sandy - I'll swap your wet, windy day for our hot, dry windy day. I'd love a couple of inches of rain for Christmas. Do you have any to spare?
