I Couldn't Resist
While working on the deck today the Crimson Rosellas were not shy about flying in for their birdseed. I was able to get to within about a metre of them. For a couple of days we've had a Crimson Rosella quite happily sharing the feeder with an Eastern Rosella. The rosellas are almost invariably in pairs but you don't often see a pair of mixed breeds.
Norvona - your eyesight is just perfect. This is a pair of Crimson Rosellas - no discernable difference at all, except maybe that the male is slightly brighter than the female (what a stupid world birds live in .. lol). The mixed couple didn't visit today.
You have such lovely birds there including the Cockatoo of the previous post and also the two different rosella's. Your birds are much more colorful than our birds.
Oh my, what beautiful birds and you got such great shots of them!! It's still a mystery to me why the male birds are always more colourful than the females...certainly not like that where humans are concerned! lol Hugs xoxo
Yay! I love these birds - my grandpa used to have two called Willie and Winnie and they would bob their head up and down and talk to you sometimes. What wonderful visitors!
I love seeing the wonderful colors in these birds. Our birds are beginning to come a little more often now that the weather is beginning to get cooler. We had a chickadee and some gold finches this morning.
My husband and I are both retired and have lived in Canberra (Australia's Capital) for 35 years after moving from Victoria. We both love gardening and travel; I also love photography (you'd never guess), sewing & crafts, and writing. We have 4 wonderful adult children - 3 girls, 1 boy, and 6 adorable grandchildren.

What beautiful tropical-looking birds you have there! From all the flowers and birds, and mild winter you just had, this must be paradise!
I must get a feeder like that. Beautiful, gorgeous birds.
Simply stunning! We have some nice birds in the UK but nothing like that! I get excited when I see goldfinches on our feeders.
How beautiful! But I guess my eyes are just getting tooooo old. I can't see any difference in the birds. :-) Maybe a little more color on one...maybe?

Oh the colors of the birds are beautiful and so glad your camera was handy......another beautiful picture Alice...
I have a bird feeder like that outside my study window and often get rosellas visiting. Now I'll have to go check whether they're crimson or Eastern!
We get swift parrots too (which are endangered) and king parrots. Today I just had currawongs. Not quite as colourful, but wonderfully acrobatic.
