Whichever way you write it, it's damn hot. That's what it reached in our suburbs today, and we seldom reach 40C. Still, it was hotter in other areas of the State - I heard that it was 47C in some parts of western Sydney. Glad to hear that it's raining in South Australia, and Chloe had some in Victoria. Actually, we had 5 minutes of rain this afternoon, and then it got hotter after that. I've actually asked Wendy to move over and make room for a few disgruntled mainlanders - she's luxuriating in temps of under 20C.
So, if any of our snowbound friends are feeling a little chilly, we've lots of heat over here to spare if you'd like a trip Downunder.

oh lord it was hot today * even here in the mountains. I took to my bed with a heat headache and severe nausea. no rain in sight here, just hot winds and hotter temps. the promised southerly hasn't even arrived
Wow, Alice, that is a hot one...do your plants survive the heat.... It was a hot summer here, but compared to what you are feeling, it wasn't that bad.....
Aww poor yous, that would be too hot for me, I'm not made for a heat over 30 degrees + I hope you'll find a way to cool down down under.
Happy New Year dear Alice and may all your wishes for 2006 will come true! Carol xx
Oh, Ms Robyn, what a disappointing way to spend your birthday. I hope it's finally cooled down for you. It's trying to rain here and the temp has dropped to 23 in the kitchen.
Judy - it's amazing how well the plants do survive, although they certainly wilt and get knocked around by the very strong, hot northerly winds, which are worse for the garden than the heat itself.
Happy New Year, Alice. I am so glad it is cooling down for you. It looks like you had a great Christmas. Your picnic meal looks like it was delicious, though I don't know how you ever got that bird cooked in that awful heat!
Thank you, Zoey. Actually, Christmas Day was only mid 20s, so very pleasant indeed.
My good god! That is just way too hot! Is Tasmania always alot cooler? I hope you get some rain for the fires!
What extreems! We are luxuriating. Our temps are perfect right now but we are saving the complaints for winter.
Thanks for translating it into F. for us - I"m not shocked! So keep on complaining; you've got it coming!
Wow! That's hot! Just forget the garden, I say, and keep inside where it's cool. Glad you got some rain the next day.
