The Final Stage
Some 45mm of rain has fallen since Richard finished preparing these vegetable beds on Friday. The white containers are cut down milk cartons which we use to protect the tomatoes whilst young, though we haven't planted them yet - a few more frosts to come. The colour-coordinated stakes are obviously the work of a retiree. The shorter stakes are old cricket stumps.

Anytime Richard gets sick of gardening in your garden, send him my way. Love the colour coordinated stakes. Mine are just old bits of condut that I pinched from Ashley's work ute, or sticks.
Richard is a perfectionist isn't he?
Yes, Sandy, he is a perfectionist when it comes to planting the vegie garden. He rakes the paths and sweeps the stepping stones. I used to get a bit cranky because it seemed that he'd rather have it looking perfect than dig in a good load of compost and improve the soil. But now he's doing both, although I'd still like him to be a bit more generous with the compost.
