Potting time.

I spent a couple of days this week potting up plants for Shay's pre-school's garden stall at the fete on Saturday. Once I started walking around the garden, with fork and trowel in hand, it was difficult to know when to stop digging up plants. Only plants with roots were potted but there were so many that I could have kept potting for a month. Most pots contain approximately 6 or more plants.

Dozens of self-sown Californian Poppies, larkspurs, alyssum, centranthus, African daisies, gazanias, aquilegia, plus divisions of lamium, sedum, chrysanthemum, pink evening primrose, Easter daisies, violets and a couple of other groundcovers.

I hope that some of these plants may encourage a love of gardening in someone who is establishing a garden for the first time. There are so many easy-to-grow and rewarding plants that I think it's sad that so many people feel that a garden is just too much trouble, or they don't have time to experience the joy of growing plants in however small a space they may have available.

I love gardening too. It's a bit of hit and miss for my flowers. Thank you for your encouraging words.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if you inspire someone's lifelong passion with your donation? It is so much easier just to dig out volunteers and pitch them, but you are taking the time and effort to nicely pot them up to give away. What a nice thing to do.

Thank you Gina and Zoey. I looked at your blog Gina but couldn't find anywhere to post a comment. Do you not allow comments on your blogs?

I think that's half the fun of blogging - communicating with others through comments.

Hope you both have a lovely day.

They look great - if I was going to that fete I'd snap up as many pots as I could!

And if I lived in your area, Shell, you could have as many plants as you wanted for FREE.

I love fetes that have home potted plants for sale, instead of the same old stuff you can buy in nurseries. Good on you for doing that... certainly vintage in my eye....wish I could come!
