Alice said...: Wendy - the Callistemon (bottlebrush) has much different leaves and a much softer flower (very like a bottlebrush that you would use for cleaning bottles)than the banksia, which has a flower generally made up curled or looped petals and is a very firm flower, almost wiry.; 10:27 pm AEDT

I was very impressed by the native plantings along the highway leaving Sydney airport (I've suddenly "lost" the name of the airport!!!) last time I was there. My Mum had some of these native plants at her new unit in Corlette (Port Stephens). Beautiful. Nice to hear the differences explained too.; 8:10 am AEDT
